Remapping a car

You're not tuning it though, nor do you have to.
If you're taking a standard car and remapping it, why would it need a "custom" map done on a rolling road, when someone has already worked out the best map for it?
Yes, if you're changing injectors, de-catting, bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, or whatever, but a standard car = relatively unnecessary.
Once you go into the realms of changing the intake, exhaust etc. you need a tailored tune with a rolling road test or otherwise known as stage 2 remap. Someone like Superchips are useless for this, you need to go to a tuning specialist like DMS.0 -
Don't mean to go on with the BMW drivel, but true story - I've personally witnessed a E92 M3 with BMW that was tuned to near 480hp (stage 2) at the crank (no turbo) at TechnoSport garage in London.0

If its just a generic stage 1 remap, offered by the likes of Superchips etc. then yeah you don't need to go anything except flash that remap on your ECU, assuming you can get a hold of that map.

I'm surprised. They're doing well with a NA engine to get that. I take it there were some other "tweaks" along the way?
A stage 2 upgrade with a hybrid turbo takes an A45 to around 460BHP. I dont think we'll do ours though as its under warranty, and by the time its out of warranty, we'll probably move it on. Its "nippy" as is though.0 -

You can't help yourself can you, what did you say this morning?I have never been active on this forum with more than one alias. "liltzero" is not me. I am being honest with the cars I own - but fine, I'll stop the BMW drivel.0 -
Mines has had a little more than a remap now, but it's pretty pokey and fun for a little diesel.
Mk1 Fabia vRS (1.9 TDi)
Helix single mass flywheel conversion with upgraded clutch.
Garrett Hybrid turbo
Forge alloy front mount intercooler.
Upgraded boost pipes
EGR valve removed
EGR cooler removed
Milltek 2.5" cat back exhaust
Custom 2.5" downpipe
Pipercross panel filter
Ibiza Cupra cold air feed
Most of the work was done before i bought it at approx 30k miles. It's done 133k now and the turbo is a little tired sounding.
Power should be about 180bhp / 300lbs when done but i imagine it's dropped a bit over the last 100k or so
New turbo, new map and some stronger head bolts and should be good for a reliable 220bhpAll your base are belong to us.0 -

Cockwombling drivel spouter extrordinaire!Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
I'm looking at getting my 1ltr Corsa remapped. I have been quoted 180 for a promised 14bhp and up to an 18%increase in fuel efficiency.
Is it worth it?0 -
