Depends on the gym
Ours - ex council - has a GP referral system that can be longer than three months. A friend of mine was employed as the support person there and she said it was good. I know there are quite a lot of people who have been referred - my friend said the referral system was very straightforward.0 -
All councils/gyms are different.
Contact the gym you want to go to and ask them what they need. Some also have funding for non GP referral if the person is overweight on their BMI.0 -
The physio referred us to the local gym gave us a selection of council gyms they also said if a zimmer is provided you are unable to go onto the gym program a walking sticks is okay?0

Ask the gyms!
What happens in one gym won't be the same as what happens in another.0 -
wrong you need to ask the gym manager0

no they dont its only dedicated people who have been trained on it knows how the program works.0

Different gyms have different rules. The staff in our gym know the rules for referrals and whether or not sticks are allowed. If they don't happen to know they will find out for you.
Why don't you be proactive and ring the gym managers and ask them. It is very unlikely that anyone on here will know exactly what rules apply to the gyms local to you (wherever that may be!).0 -
that wasn't my initial question.
My question was if someone has been through the process if so how long did their membership/course last? Some are 12 months I believe.0 -

Nope. But you asked it further on.
As I said my friend ran the GP referral service at our gym and "it depends". Some memberships are ongoing - some are limited because the problem the person has might clear up. For example GPs will refer for people recovering from heart attacks.
And other gyms will have different rules.
My advice remains the same. Ring the gyms and have the conversation. Find out what their rules are - not those of forum members at gyms many miles from yours (wherever that may be)0
