First Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
I was caught by a police officer doing 41 in a 30 on 12th February and issued with a traffic offence report (yellow slip).

It’s now 20th March and I’ve not heard anything further - which seems unusual? I’m concerned that something may have been lost in the post & I don’t want to be looking at 6 points if the police then claim I haven’t responded to something.

It explicitly states on the slip that I should not do anything until I receive further correspondence.

Do they have timeframes to issue my conditional offer? Or is that only true of speeding offences where the driver has not been pulled over and identified at the roadside?

Thanks.

The timeline is six months, since you were stopped. The 14 day deadline is for serving the initial notice - which you got roadside.

OP, worth checking that your V5 or DL has your current address on - if you've moved recently the docs may go to your old address.

Do you get a ban for doing over 40 in a 20 limit?

You'll certainly be getting a court date for 40 in a 20. That may or may not result in a ban.

    40 in a 30 is tea-and-biccies, though.

How is a 20 limit relevant here?

A speed awareness course may be offered for 41 in a 30, but the course has to be done before the 6 months are up, so they can raise court papers if it isn't. This means they need to offer the course with around 3 months to go (as you have to book and attend)

If you don't hear in the next month I'd start to get worried.

A fixed penalty/conditional offer would also need to be sent out with around 2 months to go, as you have 28 days to pay it, and they would also need to raise court papers if you don't.

If you do end up in court, you can ask for an equivalent to a fixed penalty as you should have been offered one if there were no aggravating circumstances- check this with the Pepipoo site if it happens.

They probably mashed the "2" key instead of the "3"....
