I have had a 'normal' paypal account for the past few years and using my debit card to pay for things on ebay.
I recently tried to add my bank account but was told it was added to an old account for mine over 5 years ago but i cannot remember the details of the old account.They will not give me the old details.
If i open an extra bank account would i be able to use this with Paypal ?

I believe as long as the bank account is in your name and registered at your home address than that is fine.0
