Legal Cover/Protection with car insurance

I have just been shopping around for car insurance quotes and have noticed a bit of a difference in the amounts charged for legal protection.
Some insurers are asking for around £12 for this cover whereas others are asking for anything up to £30 for this service.
Does anyone know if this type of cover can be bought independently from the car insurance policy and if so does anybody know where I can get a good deal ??

Motor legal protection is seldolm sold as a stand alone product.Essentially £12.00 is very reasonable but £30.00 is a rrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppppppppppppoooooooooofffffffffffffff !
As with everything it is the bottom line that matters so I would avoid anyone who charges over £20.00.It is very worthwhile to have this cover though as with most products the quality varies but not necessarily by price.The raw cost of the cover is say £5.00 or less and the rest is markup or in english PURE PROFIT.
