Every December, just after Christmas, we have our family outing to the Panto. Six of us go and generally book exactly the same seats each year. As expected the prices generally increase year on year but this year they have gone way beyond expectations. The theatre has also brought in a completely different pricing structure.

2014 - £99 for the 6 seats
2015 (RPI 2.3%) - £111 +12%
2016 (RPI 0.8%) - £114 +2.7%
2017 (RPI 2%) - £117 +2.6%
2018 (RPI 3.9%) - £117
2019 (RPI 3.3%) - £143 +22.2%

Anyone else finding this sort of increase ?

edit : Just seen some jobs advertised, £40K+ for touchy feely positions in an area where the average wage is £23K !

You could argue it hasnt gone up enough each year ( like my wages) and no increase last year.

£23.88 each is still good value IMO

I dont go to Pantos but recently went to see Kinky Boots in Norwich, that was £50 each

I have edited and added inflation figures for comparison. So you think that, with the exception of 2018, those annual above inflation increases are to be expected and are acceptable, notably this year ? This is not "big name" panto but a fairly large local pro theatre. I have mentioned the average wage for the area which has a mainly rural economy.

The theatre may have major improvement or repairs to pay for which can be covered by a simple price increase in line with inflation. If you don't like the prices don't go to that theatre.
