Getting rid of business partner

Hi,
Over the last few years the original partners of our firm retired and were bought out of the company.
For the last 6 months my brother and I have held the company 50/50.
The problem is, I want him gone!
He literally turns up for work then leaves at home time. That’s it!
I do everything else, and I mean everything!
I’m not exaggerating in the slightest he’s like an employee.
He doesn’t give work a second thought once he’s on his way home, he forgets, he’s rude, arrogant and is frequently upsetting clients.
He tells everyone he’s the “Boss” and that he “runs his own firm” etc.
He was basically gifted half the company (family firm)and if I was anything like him, the company would have dissolved when my dad and uncle retired.
How do I get him to go?
I’ve told him I’m sick of him and want him gone, obviously he won’t go and just makes a smart Alec remark when I mention it.
I don’t want to wind down the company but I can’t work with him anymore.
Thanks

equal partners in a partnership or equal shareholders in a company?
your post needs to be clear on what the real situation is before help can be given0 -
It the firm a partnership or a limited company? If it is a limited company what do the articles of incorporation say?The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

You are going to have to buy him out if you want to keep the business. The previous buyouts of your dad and uncle may well give you some basis for negotiation.
Whether or not your business is a partnership or a ltd co will effect the mechanics but not the principle.0 -
From the title I was about to suggest that this thread be moved to the Assassinations and Disappearances board.0

:rotfl:I was going to suggest something similar.
But now I'm wondering, has the OP's business partner beaten the OP to it?
I see the OP, a brand new user who only joined MSE yesterday, disappeared themself just 1 minute after posting ... and hasn't been seen or heard of since!:eek::eek:
I do hope the OP is ok. _pale_0
