    50p + a shiny (lucky) penny!

Don't think they should be more than that... everything with kids these days is about money!

When I was a kid it was 5p!

£1 a tooth here (there's inflation for you, it was silver sixpence piece in my day!). Plus, for the first tooth:

    • Fairy dust on the coin, available from the local stationery store as glitter, with glue.
    • Certificate, useful for "show 'n' tell" at school, search will reveal free samples/examples.
    • Letter from the tooth fairy, in very small font, congratulating DS on how clean the tooth was, and thanking me for retrieving it from down the side of the sofa!
Be prepared for the early morning call of "Hey Dad, come and look at what I've got!".

So far, I've seen no mention of the existence of boy AND girl tooth fairies; which my son told me about from one of his friends, on the way home from school last month!!!
  • Our tooth fairy brings £1 for the first and 50p for subsequent losses.

I give my son 20p a tooth, his last one lost was about a month ago, but I do give him 20p a day for being a good boy at school!

All will go towards pocket money for butlins holiday
  • I realise this must sound mean, but our tooth fairy gives 50p for the big teeth and 20p for the small ones - so far both DSs (8 and 6) are delighted with this arrangement, and know that they don't have to lose many teeth to be able to buy a comic!! I've found that, at least with my own children, they don't really understand the value of money, so are not looking for any more - they just like finding a silver coin under their pillows. Long may this continue - and may the 2 younger children enjoy the tradition when their teeth start falling out!
  • We've given £1 per tooth, nothing more for 1st teeth? Not heard that before I came on here?!!

My son's now 14 years and I think he lost one last year, but he's now aware there's no tooth fairy so just asked if he could still have £1! I said "don't you want your dad to dress up in his fairy pink stuff again then?" and he said "Mummmmmm" - so he just got given £1 !!! lol

I am amazed at how much you all seem to give for teeth.

I gave either DS any shiny coin I had, whatever the value between 1p to 50p. They've always been chuffed with the shiny coin from a fairy!

They are now older (12 and 10) and wiser so I suppose I am now more likely to give them 20p or 50p, as long as it is shiny.

Mortgage free, debt free, guess why?

£2 per tooth and HAS to be a £2 coin. We keep a couple in bedroom drawer just in case!
