I opened a bank account for my daughter this morning and casually asked if they had any 0% credit cards and was given a leaflet for their latest one coming out on Monday November 1st.

Gold card limited offer
  • 0% interest on transferred balances for the first 9 months.
  • 0% on purchases until 1 September 2005

The small print states:

"Balances transferred from non-HSBC (including First Direct/HFC) credit and stores cards within 30 days of entering into your credit card agreement will attract a rate of 0%, which will last for 9 months from the date of the balance transfer. The 0% on purchases is available for purchase trasnactions completed on or before 1 September 2005"

"The introductory offers also apply to our Classic and Classic Plus credit!.

"Applying couldn't be simpler, just talk to a member of staff for an instant decision today."

So, presumably you can pop into your local branch and come out with some good news.

Now not having the terms and conditions, I will happen a guess that effectively it means 0% for 9 months, for balance transfers and spending, as before the 9 months are up the total balance would need to be cleared, including spending balance !.

Then the following month you can continue for another 2-3 months interest free on spending.

Still a nice card and one to make a note of :)
