Credit card refusal?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can answer a puzzling question for me...

My 'first year free' Amex credit card is coming up for 12 months old, so I'm looking to transfer the points out and get a new card.

I already have the free Virgin Atlantic Card from Virgin Money, so applied for the annual fee based one, to get the bonus flying club miles offer.

However, having gone through the online process, I've been refused! Worrying my credit rating had taken a sudden nose dive, I checked Experian but it's sat at 999!

So if it's not my actual rating that's stopping me getting it, is it because I already have the free Virgin card?

Many moons ago when the VA card was run by MBNA, I had both the free and annual fee cards then (to maximise the signup bonus points), so not sure why it would be an issue now, unless Virgin Money don't like it.

Anyone else come across this or know any other reason why I might have been knocked back? Thanks in advance.

Peter
