30 hours free childcare

Writing for a friend:
She has a query regarding the 30 hours free childcare. She does not work anymore but has regular rental income from couple of properties so files tax every year too.
To be eligible for 30 hours free childcare, one has to earn more than around £130/week. Although she gets more than that, but not sure whether her income from rentals is allowed?
OR in other words does the income has to be from PAYEE or as Sole trader?
would appreciate your thoughts.

Has she looked into the criteria at al?
If you are not currently working
You may still be eligible if your partner is working, and you get Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, Carer’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance.
You can apply if you’re starting or re-starting work within the next 31 days.
This is what I found. It makes sense, it’s supposed to help people with work, not to ‘not work’0 -
I don’t believe they would class as the correct sort of earnings. For clarification your friend could make contact with their local authority to double check before applying for it.
She will of course still continue to get the 15 hours that are offered as standard...0 -

Yes she has looked the official pages but it doesn't differentiate anywhere. She still pays same tax as anyone self-employed and there's work involved managing properties/maintenance etc. so not trying to get money without working as such.[STRIKE]Deposit: 25000!!/15000[/STRIKE] Homeowner :j
