Liability for acts of non-employees?

Hi
Can myself or the organisation/club be held liable for an act of injury by a non-employee that has taken place on the premises?
eg: If a self-employed coach (not an employee) rents a court from the club for use to teach children, can the club be held liable should the coach cause/alleged to have caused injury or abuse to the children in his care.
And if so would Public Liability insurance cover this?

Need more circumstances.
Was the injury related to the rental space, or activities performed within?
Need way more detail0 -
Thank you for responding.
Activities performed by the coach - more specifically alleged abuse.
I understand if coach was an employee we would be vicariously liable for the actions.
But coach is not an employee.
Definitely not due to a fault with the premises.0 -
Vicarious liability is a *really* complicated area of law. It can certainly extend beyond a pure employment relationship, but quite how far beyond is very fact specific.
If this isn't a purely hypothetical question, you're aware of a potential claim, and you have insurance - get in touch with your insurers asap.0
