Retailer 1yr Warranty vs Manufacturer 2yr Warranty

So I purchased a Google Pixel 2 mobile phone on NYE 2017 from Curry’s online. The phone has developed a fault and is unusable. Having tried different methods to fix Google have confirmed its a faulty handset and the warranty runs to 31/12/2019 (I have this in writing). But as it was bought from a third party retailer I would need to contact them I.e Currys. Currys telephone customer service gave the predictable and expected reply that it was out of their 12 Month Warranty period, nothing they can do etc

Obviously phones should last more than 12 months - most contracts are for 2 years. It’s not fit for purpose etc

What is the best way to resolve the issue? I assume it’s Currys who legally have to resolve the issue and not the manufacturer? Surely the retailer have to honour the manufacturer warranty? (I assume Currys return to google and get &&£ back anyway).

Thank you.

WARRANTY is whatever the terms and conditions say .
it is not your Consumer Rights .( see sticky top of page )
Your CR are against the vendor . But in brief they are entitled to ask you to proof your assertion via an independant report ( google report ??).
Found in your favour they can repeir replace or refund at their discretion . Refund is pro rata for usage .
Manufacturers warranty is nothing to do with the vendor .

So I’ll have to take this up with Google directly to replace/fix. It all gets confusing when both parties offer different periods and both tell you to go to the other.

Would my credit card company be able to help in anyway at a last resort?

    NO
You take it up with the vendor under your Consumer Rights .
