Lowri Beck and 0845 number
Comments

I don't see any 0845 numbers on their website (not that they are illegal - in fact the reference to the appropriate legislation posted 18 months ago actually could be said to permit them albeit with conditions)
They have an 0345 number, and indeed have an alternative 01942 number, on their website today
But Lowri Beck still display the 0844 number in every single outbound phone call they make to probably thousands of customers daily allowing Lowri Beck's telecoms supplier to rack up large amounts of unjustified additional income when customers call back on this number to find out who has called them and that is when the requirements of the EU Consumer Rights Directive are breached. The thread at https://who-called.co.uk/Number/08442451260 shows just how many customers are still receiving calls from their ripoff 0844 covert premium rate number.:eek::mad:
Why exactly are you such an apologist for Lowri Beck's misdeeds?
P.S. The thread has been bumped because Lowri Beck are still at it abusively making outgoing calls to their customers using an 084 prefixed phone number despite the use of such numbers having been banned since Summer 2014. So what part of that exactly do you not seem to get???0 -
Lowri Beck will have had legal advice I m sure, about using 0845 numbers. This subject has appeared on the Energy Board a few times over the years so maybe its useful to do a search on here for more advice.
I don't think Lowri Beck will have had any such legal advice. They are simply either unaware at senior management level or do not care that the 0844 CLI is still being foisted on customers thousands of times a day.
If what you claim is actually true then why does almost other no large brand name in the UK who used to once use 084/7 numbers (including in their CLI for outgoing calls) still use them and why have they all switched to using 03, 01, 02 or 080 numbers for almost every possible form of customer interaction??? Tescos and DSG Retail for instance both used to be massive users of 084/7 numbers and now no longer use them for anything at all or in any way.....0 -

Who's banned 084 numbers??? :huh:
And I don't see them as contact numbers on their website today anyway.
So what part of that exactly do you not seem to get??? :cool:0 -
I haven't missed any meter readers lately, but Lowri Beck often left cards asking customers to phone their meter reading in to an 0845 number with no pricing information. I complained to them but they never even bothered to reply.
If they're now using an even more expensive 0844 number it just shows their total contempt for the law. They know they can keep getting away with it because all the so-called regulators are all useless and Citizens Advice is under resourced.0 -

The banned 0844 CLI numbers that Lowri Beck are still using to this day in every single outgoing call they make to the customers they are calling on behalf of various energy suppliers as extensively detailed at https://who-called.co.uk/Number/08442451260
Do you perhaps work for a telecoms supplier when you seem to be such a relentless supporter of Lowri Beck's ability to go on using 0844 numbers to call customers???
What numbers Lowri Beck now publish on their website is irrelevant when they still continue to use the 0844 CLI in every single outgoing call they make to customers.0 -
Paragraph 3.16 of this Ofcom document at https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0012/113214/statement-guidelines-cli-facilities.pdf also explicitly sets out the ban on using a non standard rated phone number in the CLI displayed by call centres:-Principles for the provision and handling of CLI Data
A valid, dialable number which uniquely identifies the caller
3.16 The revised GC C6.4 requires CPs to ensure, so far as technically feasible, that any CLI Data provided with and/or associated with a call includes a valid, dialable telephone number which uniquely identifies the caller. In the consultation on the guidance on CLI facilities we proposed that the originating CP should be responsible for ensuring that the correct CLI Data is generated at call origination. We proposed that the CLI presented should be a number which fulfils the technical requirements as specified in ND1016,11 and the following requirements:
- It must be a valid number - This is a number that complies with the ITU-T numbering plan E.164. It must also be a number that has been allocated for use in the UK in the National Telephone Numbering Plan (the ‘Numbering Plan’);
- It must be a dialable number, i.e. a number that is in service. This number must be one that identifies the caller (which can be an individual or an organisation) and can be used to make a return or subsequent call;
- It must uniquely identify the caller, i.e. be a number that the user has been given authority to use (either because it is a number that has been allocated to them or because the user has been given permission from a third party who has been allocated that number); and
- It must not be a number that results in charges in excess of the cost of calling a standard geographic number or a mobile number.0 -

Didn't realise it was full as it didn't warn me with an email when it bounced your private message.
Anyway have now corrected the URL and will deal with the private message issue.
EDIT:- Now see that MSE did warn me my private message box was full after you attempted to message me. It was all those badges for years of membership since I was last active on this forum that had filled it up.0 -
I just spent 15p of my own money (as I couldn't find a free way to call and 18185.co.uk were charging 10p per minute plus 5p connection fee) to confirm that 0844 245 1260 is indeed still being answered by an IVR system saying that this is Lowri Beck Meter Services etc.
So this is not out an out of date CLI to a number that has in fact been withdrawn by Lowri Beck (but not altered in the outgoing call making equipment Lowri Beck uses) but very much a number that customers are likely to call back on and get through on and then be charged extortion o clock if calling from a mobile and a pretty large amount per minute if calling from a landline.:eek::mad::(0
