Drop path by council recommended contractor.

Getting a drop path and you have to go through the council to get approval. And also have to use a contractor they recommend.
Had a quote for £1600 for the drop path but they are asking for the full amount.....
Now I always thought you would never pay the full amount upfront, maybe a deposit, but never the full amount.
Is this standard practice with council contractors?
Thanks.

Yeah. Our council do private jobs, but you have to pay up front.
However, think of it this way... you are not paying an inflated price to make up for all those who won't pay when the job is done.0 -
Yup. I had this and was fully aware of it as the council put it on their website. Locally, I had to pay £100 for an assessment for the application (irrespective of whether it was approved or not). I then had to pay the fee up front and works would be completed within four weeks of payment.
Have you checked with your local council website?0
