It depends if you want to keep the same layout and just replace the suite or totally re-model. Moving soil pipes and water inlets will be more expensive than leaving things in situ. Do you want to replace the bath with a shower or somehow incorporate a shower in the design? Houzz is a good site where you can upload plans and photos for design advice.

For cheapness and due to just buying it I would paint the walls a nicer colour and get stickers to out on the tiles, gives you a few years to save up and then do the bathroom how you want to based on living with it and deciding what you want out of it.

I think that layout is fine.

The toilet looks pretty new & modern so I would leave that alone. Shower looks fine. You could make the room look fantastic by replacing the sink with a nice pedestal with a chrome mixer tap as the focal point. New bog standard bath, fresh paint, replace the tiles and then a neutral coloured shower curtain and you'll be laughing. Maybe a some new vinyl over the floor.

All DIY'able and for under a thousand.

You could try the Ikea Bathroom Planner
They dont sell bathrooms, so not too many people are aware of this free, not too fiddly to use, tool.

It lets you create a very good view of the bathroom, from all angles. You can mess about with it, until something appears, that you like the look of.

And I used it for the place I'm in now and it has really helped make an impressive layout, which appears more expensive than it actually was.

Yes, don't put the shower at the sloping head-end next time.

Seriously, there's no point changing the layout. It works.

Budget upwards of £4,500 for a proper job.

If you want it really nice then look at full tiling, have a sink that's wide and has a vanity unit underneath for storage. Build studwork out at the end of the bath so that the bath doesn't have a weird 10cm at the end and put recessed shelving into it for more storage.

We went as far as changing the window in one house, so it wasn't in the way. Yours isn't too bad though.

One of my projects. Not sure if you can see it. Wall built out with recessed storage, wide sink, plenty of storage. I also prefer a nice folding shower screen so it doesn't feel claustrophobic like you're in the shower when you're having a bath .

Don't have any kind of wood/mdf/cabinet under a basin. They look fine until the dampness starts making the wood expand.

Your existing bathroom looks fine to me. I suspect you will have plenty of other jobs in a new house to get on with, without making work for yourself.
