"could" doesn't mean much

Same old same old from MSE posts......headline followed by "could" followed by "if". Journalism at its most infantile.

What would you rather? It's an event that will almost certainly have currency rates implications, and MSE is pointing out that if that happens then you could pay more, and there's little you can do about it.

Not a lot of good reporting on it afterwards if it happens, but this could save people some money, which is the point of this site- not "journalism", but information to help people make financial decisions.

People being informed about the risks, even if they decide to take them anyway, is a good thing.
Say that a package comes up that's near identical, I'd rather take it from a company who says that they won't put up the price than one who says "maybe".
You might instead decide that you'd rather go with a company that isn't guaranteeing on surcharges because you overall prefer the provider and you don't think the risk is that great. That's a valid response too, but the important thing is that we both made an informed choice.
