Variable Resident Parking Restrictions - Signage Rules
LinkOps1985
I recently parked in a residential parking bay on a Saturday and received a PCN. Upon parking there I did note that Saturdays was an additional enforcement on "Event Days" however no signage anywhere nearby or on the entrance to said CPZ was identified to advise of when an Event Day actually was in effect.
My local authority has thrown out my Informal representation on the bases that their photography shows the standard street signage making reference to Event Day restrictions but my understanding is that it is the local authorities job to advise when such Event Day is.
I don't follow the local events and thus would not be privy to that knowledge just like any visitor to our local authority that is out of such loop.
My question here is am I right to appeal this to an adjudicator on the grounds that the parking restriction was not clear as to if it was currently enforced while I was parked there or is the council not required to give such notice of when the variable restirction is in effect and thus the owner of the vehicle has to make subsequent investigations to determine when a event day is actually ongoing.
Sorry if I repeat myself or am unclear and feel free to ask additional questions.
Marcus

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering) and post a new thread; here's your link:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30
Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.
PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
HTHPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You are very clear and I came across this problem. As I was unsure I parked somewhere else, but I agree with you and hope you fight it all the way.0
