The scale of price rises in the funeral industry does not seem to be justified by cost increases or quality improvements and should prompt an investigation, the competition watchdog has said....

    A close relative who often conducts funerals has been told by crematoria that the reason for the price hikes is the rising cost of complying with emissions regulations for their chimneys. These regulations are getting progressively tighter too.

    Exactly how does one do "quality improvements" to a funeral?

    I daresay the occasional burial is late, but it's not Yodel or Hermes. "We could not gain access to the cemetery but have left granny in your green bin."
    A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
