Christmas Markets, fayres etc: do you use them to buy your Christmas presents?

I never buy from there... firstly, the items they sell at those places aren't the sorts of things I'd buy as gifts, secondly, the items they sell aren't the sort of things I'd buy myself. And, they tend to be over-priced - even stallholders put their prices up just because it's a Christmas market, pricing differently for each venue.
I'm there really just to shuffle round, look at stuff that might look nice but I wouldn't give house room to .... check out the price of food (too much) before popping into a supermarket, picking up something to eat and going home.0 -
My wife is a great lover of xmas fayres and markets. However, the only decent stuff she has bought seems to have been from the German Markets - pricey though and not at all MSE. Personally, I find them too busy and feel too much hype surrounds them. However, each to their own ...0

We do have a stall which sells lovely French soaps(think L'Occitane), I stock up for myself.
Funny you should say that, I just happened to be in Uttoxeter on a Saturday last December and they had a street market that had a fabulous stall manned by a Frenchman selling soaps similar to L'Occitane. I bought a few and wish I had bought more. They are fantastic.0 -
You need very deep pockets to shop at most if not all of the Christmas Mwrkets round here, which are virtually all organised by professional "event" companies, with crippling prices per stall - So its hardly a moneysaving thing to do.0

I do the rounds, but don't buy much, but then these days I don't need to buy many presents.
The German Market has arrived, same old, same old. But when the Makers Market arrives at the start of December, I'll go take another look. That's for local makers and what's available varies each year.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
They are nice to browse around and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere but as someone else has said although the displays are tempting all together the reality of an individual item at home means they are not the sort of things I'd buy for gifts or for me.0
