EGG details 'lost'...

I finally decided to investigate whether I had PPI on my EGG card from about 10 years ago.

Problem is that Barclaycard are saying they can find no record of my account. I've sent them my full name and the last 3 addresses I lived at but they can't find any record. They're saying that unless I have the full card or account number they can't help.

It's been about 10 years so I've no paperwork with those details.

Have I hit a dead end or do I have any options?

  • If neither you nor they have any details, then it's the end of the road.

    You can try a SAR but it's unlikely to change things.

    Try Citi group first, they had some of the older Egg cards (pre 2011 iirc)

    Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

    People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    Barclays only took on the open accounts. Not those that closed before they were involved.

    Yup. This question has arisen before.

    Barclaycard bought Egg credit cards in 2011.

    For any Egg credit cards closed before that date you would try Canada Square Operations;
