Missed deadline for delayed luggage comp

Hi
My luggage was delayed on a KLM flight to Italy and I had to buy some overnight toiletries and a change of clothes (it was very hot!). I failed to spot, and no staff pointed out, that I only had 21 days to claim for these expenses. As a result my claim was submitted late and KLM have rejected it on the basis that it was made after the 21-day limit, even though I have the receipts and it's quite clear what I bought at the airport on the relevant date. Is there anything I can do? Thanks if anyone can help. Comments about reading the T&Cs won't be appreciated

From KLM, short of resubmitting and appealing to their better nature, probably not.
Second option would be to try and claim from travel insurance but you would likely have an excess to pay.0
