So I didn't post back the electoral registration form. I received reminder which I posted back last Wednesday. This was the first reminder.
So I just seen on a letter posted through my door saying the Voting Registration Team called today to complete the form.
What does this mean?

It either means they haven't received the form or, more likely, they haven't processed it yet.
In future, if there are no changes at your household, you can confirm that using the automated phone service or doing it on line using the codes printed on the Household Enquiry Form. This will update your record instantly and keep costs down for the Council.0 -
I had same type of visit on friday , simply told them the letter had been posted back , she asked number and names of occupiers , I replied (just me) , she ticked a box , said thank you and left0

So what should I do? Call them? Or will they call out again? Don't you need a reference number to call them or code?0 -
If you've sent it back, do nothing. Their reminder letter and the physical person have just crossed each others' paths, so just forget it... the walker will get a new list next week and you won't be on it.0

So they process the forms quite quickly as it's been 4 working days since I handed it in (5 if you include today.)
Just a side question as you seem to be well informed on this and I have been reading up. How can students be registered at more than one address? That means they can vote twice?0 -

Had a visit a few weeks ago.
The form was filled out and returned 5 weeks before, so it appears some are better than others in terms of f paperwork.💙💛 💔0 -

Anyone who has two homes can be registered twice. But you cannot vote twice in the same election.
Suppose you have homes in Brighton and London. In the local elections you can vote in both Brighton and in London. Different Councils so different elections. In a General Election you can only vote once, so you choose where to vote. You will get polling cards for each election but you must only vote once.0 -

Wait on. There is no single global election register? Each council keeps its own copy of its residents?
I always thought if you move home that your address is just updated on the global election register, ie there are no multiple entries.0 -
Correct. Local Councils each compile their own Electoral Registers.
So I take it if you move address to outside the local council then you have to re-register again. The old address the new occupants will just remove you from the list at your old council. Or does your new council inform your old council.
For the majority of cases there are no changes but I suspect in cities or areas with high turnover of residents it can change year to year.0
