Black Metal Pipes Under Patio?

After getting the builders on my in laws conservatory to do 600 mill minimum footings we notice two black metal pipes about 450 mill down and right next to the house patio doors, they said they will pin the wall to thr house and bridge over the top which is exactly what the neighbors did.
We are worried about these pipes and wonder if they are water or gas, anyone encountered this before!

Is it an old house? Are the pipes quite thin (an inch or so)? We had some old lead water pipes under the back which used to supply a little outhouse.0

They come from under the neighbours conservatory and continue up the street along the length of the semi detached homes.Enjoy everyday like it's your last!0

I could be wrong but those look just like ours, old lead water pipes.
If they are still live you certainly don't want to touch them, they are pretty fragile.
If they are something else then I don't know!0 -

Doubtful they would be lead in 1976.
OP, check with a magnet (e.g. fridge magnet) to see if they are magnetic, which would mean they are either iron or steel.
Where are the pipes relative to (a) your gas meter and (b) water stopvalve?"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

They could be anything. Without a professional opinion, its just guess work. The trouble is of course you dont have access to utility plans.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
