Car written off - total loss

Has anyone on here had a car written off whilst it's still on finance?

    The insurance payout goes to the lender to settle the outstanding finance.
    If the payout isn't enough to settle the finance, then you owe the difference. That's what gap insurance is for.

    Well, if we're being strict about answering the question, the answer can only be "Yes". It's not your or my experiences they're after - it's the generality. And there's been quite a lot of cars on finance written off, and it'd be beyond the stretch of reason for it not to have happened to a poster here...

    As per Adrians comment, no I havent written off a car on finance personally, but i would say some people have.

    Is that the thread closed then?
