This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks...
I drove my friend to the station so we could get a train together. We parked in a space that had to be reserved, and got a parking ticket. Should I pay the whole fine, or should she make a contribution?

Unfortunately the MSE team can't always answer money moral dilemma questions as contributions are often emailed in or suggested in person. They are intended to be enjoyed as a point of debate and discussed at face value.

Would it not be more sensible to contest the parking ticket as you were indeed in a car with two or more people?

    Edit
Thank you so much, MSE staffers, for completely changing the question posed after a couple of answers had been posted - thank you for making my reply totally nonsensical and making me look idiotic. I made the mistake of not quoting the original post in my reply which I shall not do again. Others please take note.
  • I 100% agree with the above poster, contest the ticket as you did exactly what the space told you to do.

If however you do not win then no I wouldn't ask her. Its the drivers responsibility to read signs etc, not your passengers.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!

    No, the driver is responsible.
  • Is it me or has this changed?

this is a bit like a speeding fine and expecting the passenger to chip in as they got the benefit of the extra speedy journey

Presumably the OP initially referred to parking in spaces reserved for car sharers then decided to amend for some reason.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
