  • Only confirmed on flights departing the UK, if I've read the article correctly.

Awaiting clarification on return flights into the UK.

In terms of compensation, you probably won't get it in a no deal situation. To avoid any shenanigans with air traffic control forcing the EU airlines to pay compensation with no legal recourse.

For increased security checks coming into the UK, you probably will get it entering the UK as otherwise it won't meet the objectives of brexit.

Are flight delays, in terms of compensation claims, not timed from departure to arrival time at the gate ?

Not clear on how security checks come into the equation.

I must be missing something relevant.

In a no deal scenario it will surely be similar to the EU system now.

The UK will be able to enforce it for all flights by UK registered carriers. But only be able to enforce it for foreign airlines when departing the UK (like the EU can only enforce it for non-EU airlines when departing from the EU)

And it’s all well and good DfT saying it won’t change, but the UK will be free to change it in the future. And you can be sure the UK airlines will be lobbying future governments to do just that.
