    Send a SAR.
There may be no info left though. depends on how old the accounts are.

If there's nothing left, there's no complaint to be made.

So how do you find out when you've rung the Bank and they can't tell you if any of the products they've listed on their letter had PPI?

I recall having ppi on at least one card and one loan but can’t recall the providers. I’ve filled out as much of the questionnaire as I can, the parts about my personal circumstances at the time the product was taken out can be more or less completed in full as this is the same regardless of ppi or not. The part about ppi I have filled in using my memory of the ppi I had, I have noted on the form that as it’s so long ago I could be confusing it wit another company.

They will use the records they hold and the information you provide to make a decision, if you aren’t happy with the decision then that’s when you take it further.

No point "taking it further" if their records are incomplete due to the passage of time unless you have documentation from your own archive..
  • Have recently checked if I had ppi on 2 loans with Lloyds. Received a letter back 3 weeks ago quoting the loan reference and saying they understand I have a concern with the way ppi was sold. Filled out the questionnaire and today got a letter back saying I didn’t have ppi on loans. Was the original letter incorrect? Anyone else had this issue? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

They sent you details of loans you'd had.
Only when you returned the questionnaire, did they investigate your complaint(s) and that's when they found you didn't have PPI. Sounds like the letter is correct.
  • That would be a false assumption.
    Logical, yes, but false nonetheless.

LBG made one customer that I know of pay a fair amount for probate documentation, before they would talk to her about her husband's PPI. Turns out, he did not have any PPI on any of his products.

So don't get your hopes up.

I have exactly the same issue. My next step was to phone them to find out details of the timings of the loans/credit cards. I assumed that if they had account numbers then they had PPI on them? Otherwise why send the forms.

Please can you use the [/QUOTE] function in a manner that puts the comment quoted before your own words?
At the moment, it appears as if you are responding to someone else.... :)
  • Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland all send out forms as soon as you make a PPI enquiry. The forms do not give you any details other than partial account numbers - and it’s impossible to comment on the circumstances of the sale if you don’t know which account the letter refers to, or indeed if there was even PPI on the account. I have rang and got the info, but some staff were reluctant to give it out.

So just to find out if you had PPI you have to give them all the info in advance about why you feel it was midsold. How can you be honest and accurate and comment on a PPI sale before they even confirm you were sold PPI in the first place??

So many people I know said they did it all through Resolver hassle-free, but I’ve had to make umpteen calls to companies who aren’t on Resolver, or the Resolver form (and often their own website’s PPI tool) doesn’t work!

    ....

What "honest and accurate .... comment on a PPI sale" could you possibly make in such a circumstance? 'I don't remember' would be about the only option. After all, you don't know whether you had PPI, which is why you're asking, so you really don't remember.
  • True - but I mean questions like “Where did you work at the time? How long had you worked there? How did you apply for the card?” - obviously these are different depending on the card/product involved.
