I thought MSE always harp on about how 60% of people are 'languishing' on their provider's standard tariff? If this appears to be far from the case for Scottish Power, i.e. one of the big six, is it still true at all, or just the case because it's so heavily weighted by a crazy high level of inertia amongst British Gas customers???MSE_Callum wrote: »More than two-thirds of our customers are on fixed price products or other tariffs not impacted by this price change0 -
SP is only one of many suppliers for the 60% .
But you are probably right an awful lot are on BG BT etc /.0 -

Ye gods. Does this mean that Spanish Power actually has hundreds of thousands of customers? If that's true, then by virtue of still being SP customers they must have no ability to be furious about anything.:(0 -

Scottish Power have about 5 million UK domestic customers.
However, this figures include those supplied by both PPM and credit meters.
Scottish Power indicate that about 900,000 customers will be directly affected by this latest price rise.
(This increase only affects customers on credit meters and over 60% of credit metered customers are currently on fixed price tariffs)0 -
I'm ok because I'm on a fixed tariff until December 2018 and I expect a 50 quid carrot from SP when renewal comes up.
But it's not enough to simply report a price increase without a comparison. SP are still third on the list of cheapest providers with Warm Home Discounting for the Eastern region. I just checked for my elderly relative.0 -
I was with Scottish Power for years and they are muppets, terrible service, messed up web page interface that they could never fix, never get through, there smart meters never worked, in the end I left and went to OVO, they took out the Scottish Power smart meters, fitted their own, works fine, customer services is great, and they pay me 3% interest on my account when in credit, so pleased I left Scottish Power0

My educated guess is that if you leave OVO you will then receive persistent marketing phone calls from Utilita
The point about Scottish Power and smart meters is that they are still set up for customer monthly readings for online tariffs and while they can and do receive smart readings they disregard them. I have noted several times that a smart reading appears in my online account but then disappears. However it's not much of an inconvenience to supply manual readings: It's on the in-home display. Not good for the smart meter purists amongst us but there you go.0
