A friend gave me an expensive juicer as it was too complicated to use and she wanted rid of it. When I started using it I realised why, as it takes more effort and cleaning than the result is worth. Is it unreasonable to flog it and keep the money?

Ask her if she wants it back. If she doesn't then go ahead and do what you want with it, - sell it, take it to the council tip, put it on freecycle.. whatever.Signature Removed by Forum Team ..thanks to somebody reporting a witty and decades-old Kenny Everett quote as 'offensive'!!0

Sell it and split the proceeds0

What would you do if you didn’t sell it? Chuck it out or keep it indefinitely? Either of those options is not as good as selling it!0

Tell her what you've put in your post, that you agree with her it's too complicated to use, and ask her if she wants it back or does she mind if you sell it. Then act according to her answer.0

Yes. She gave it to you and it is now your property.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Depends upon your friend. If she is struggling for money then pass it back for her to sell/sell it on her behalf. If she isn't struggling then sell it and split the proceeds with her.0

It was given to you so it now belongs to you to do with as you wish. Someone gave me a bread maker once, which was great for a while, but it took up so much space in my small kitchen that I no longer wanted it. I did ask the person if they wanted it back but they did not, so I sold it on Gumtree.0

Of course you have the right to sell what has been given to you because someone didn't want it.
That said, I would put it on Freegle myself, all things considered.0 -

I'd do a combination of the above 2 suggestions.Red-Squirrel wrote: »Sell it and split the proceeds
Explain why you no longer want it and ask her if she wants it back.
If she doesn't, sell it and split any profit (after listing fees, P&P) with her.0 -
Just sell it. If the money was that important to her, she'd have sold it instead of giving it to you.0
