Hot water with radiator blocked off.....

I've got a plasterer coming in this week so decided to take the radiator off the wall today.

I've got a Worcester Bosch Greenstar Conbi boiler.

I drained the system and used caps to block the two radiator pipes.

Upon booting the system back up there was no hot water and I was greeted with a variety of over heating error messages.

I shut it all down, put the radiator back on, pressurised the system and the hot water is working fine with no error messages.

Is it possible to use the hot water without the central heating on a combi?

Why did you drain the entire heating system and not just isolate the radiator at its local valves, keeping the system pressurised and operational?!

You still need water in the heating side to operate the hot water.

Just isolate at the valves but capping the pipes is ok too. The radiators have nothing to do with the hot water.
As already said even if you don't want to use the heating, the system still need pressurised to run the boiler.
