No PPI Claims Pre 2005?

I have seen some comments relating to PPI claims that suggest you cannot claim if you had PPI prior to 2005.
Is this correct? I wasn't aware that a time limit existed.

It is correct in a set of circumstances.
regulation started 14th January 2005. So, firms do not have to consider pre-2005 sales UNLESS they were members of the GISC prior to that date. This effectively means the big firms.
Firms like car dealers, brokers, mortgage advisers, IFAs, estate agents, accountants etc usually were not members of an earlier body.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
