Direct Line is promising to protect its customers' no-claims discount if their car is damaged by something that wasn't their fault such as a pothole - but don't assume you won't pay more in the long run..

    So does that mean DirectLine will now sue councils to cover thier losses?

    Who knows, but if it encourages the councils to actually repair the roads then I'm all for it!

    They still won't cover tyres, and depending on the excess will it be worthwhile to make a claim just for an alloy?

    A headline grabber from DLG but not a big exposure or a generous cover.

    Perhaps they could also stop putting up premiums for accidents that were not your fault!!

    All insurers do that, so it isn't a fair criticism of Direct Line specifically.

    You are considered, rightly or not, to be a greater risk if you have a previous claim, irrespective of fault.
