I need to get my loo replaced. what should I look for in terms of qualifications to ensure I get a good job done and avoid the cowboys,

    Same as any plumbing job really, ask for recommendations from people who have had work done. Get three quotes at least and see which on you're happy with.

    If it were me, I'd buy the toilet myself so I knew what was going in.

    Not really a difficult job, dependant on access.
