Do estate agents have emailing lists for properties new to market?

Hi all

Just a quick one, do estate agents have emailing lists for properties new to the market, we are FTB and nothing where we are looking is taking our fancy, I was thinking about writing an email with what we are looking for to local estate agents to try get a head start but thought I'd check on here first if they do that sort of thing?

    If you register with an estate agent, they will generally send you any old tat that they take on, whether it fits your requirements or not.

    Remember that estate agents work for the seller and have their best interests in mind. You are just another buyer.

    I would keep an eye on Rightmove and Zoopla.

    Make personal contact with agents. Discuss precisely what you are looking for and the price. Agents will then contact you immediately a property becomes available.

    Not necessarily but it is useful to be on good terms, they can tip you off if they have knowledge of valuations they have done which are coming onto the market shortly.

    An email list, no. Preferred buyers that they will ring, yes.

    You need to be personally visiting all of the estate agents in your preferred area on a regular basis. After doing this for a month or two they will move you higher up their list.

    The last property that my mum bought was one that the EA had visited for a quote the very same morning, she offered on it before it even reached the market.

    In any reasonably buoyant market, why should agents waste time on people whom they don't know and can't put a face to?

    They might bung them a list of their well-worn property, but bother about stuff that actually matches requirements? Probably not.
