What is Nationwides "Roll number" ?
Needed for claiming benefits .....

If you have a current account with them you won't have a roll number - you just need the sort code and account number, as you would with a bank.
Roll numbers are, iirc, for conventional savings accounts with building societies.
Most (all?) of Nwide's accounts (current or savings) have conventional bank sort code and account numbers instead.0 -

I remember mortgages always had roll numbers.

It was not needed on the form after all0 -
For future reference, the Nationwide roll number is usually formed from the branch number followed by a "/" then the account number.0

Nationwide either use a standard six digit sort code / 8 digit account number or the full account number in the reference field (including the bit before the backslash).0
