If you have a current account with them you won't have a roll number - you just need the sort code and account number, as you would with a bank.

Roll numbers are, iirc, for conventional savings accounts with building societies.

Most (all?) of Nwide's accounts (current or savings) have conventional bank sort code and account numbers instead.

All of Nationwide's savings accounts without cards have a roll number (or, just an account number, as Nationwide call it). This includes Regular Savers (without card option), branch savings, online savings, etc etc.

If you have your own sort code and account number (i.e. your account number is not 33333334 or longer than 8 digits), then you don't have a roll number. Just leave it blank or put anything in that box (it just gets used as a reference on the payment).

I remember mortgages always had roll numbers.

Doesn't help you much I realise.

For future reference, the Nationwide roll number is usually formed from the branch number followed by a "/" then the account number.

Nationwide either use a standard six digit sort code / 8 digit account number or the full account number in the reference field (including the bit before the backslash).
