Hi All.
I've just done a claim for PPI on a joint loan which is now a debt and they have found that they owe us money for it. I have a couple of issues and need some advise please? My ex who i had the loan with went bankrupt when we divorced years ago and left the country leaving me to raise a disabled child. How do i go about claiming this as they want us both to sign and i haven't known where he was for the last 10 years and also could i get the money paid to me as i am still in financial difficulty due to raising my disabled child.Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If they want his signature there's nothing you can do but get him to sign it. If you can't, the complaint is over.
You can try explaining that you have no idea where he is, but don't hold your breath about that.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
They could use any redress to cover an outstanding debt.. . . a joint loan which is now a debt
Have they actually said they owe you money?and they have found that they owe us money for it0 -
Two issues here:
Bankrupts can't ever make PPI complaints, since any redress belongs to the Official Receiver for re-distribution to former creditors.
In addition, if the loan itself remains a debt, even a successful PPI complaint will be offset against the outstanding amount.
So I fail to see how the Bank can be saying they "owe" you money?
Are you certain it's not a Claim Company wanting you to pursue this?0 -
Even though it was a joint debt, when he went bankrupt all the joint debt have been made my sole responsibility. But as his name was originally on the loan it still is on the paperwork. I made a claim direct with the bank and they have responded saying that the claim was successful and has advised me on amounts.0
