return issue

I assume I'm stuck with this problem- although I am currently waiting on a call back from ebay customer services who I fully suspect will be rubbish.

Buyer bought two items, requested a return for both which I accepted (obviously) - this morning signed for packet arrived with just one item in it. My only option is to refund in full for both items.

I'm feeling really miffed about this frankly, the costs involved are small - £5 items, but it is the principal of the thing.

    Is there not a discrepancy on the weight of sent parcel vs returned one?

    Deny receiving it back? (How was it sent?)
    Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
    Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    The weight is negligible and I am talking on live chat now and they say it is immaterial, basically thay are saying buyer either closes the case and I refund for one item, or I have to refund for both. Item was returned signed for and on this occasion I actually did have to sign for it.

    I told customer services (in writing) that I always have low expectations of them, and they never fail to disappoint me.

    Really miffed now

    Edit, have spoken to the buyer (who seemed a tad surprised I had her telephone number) and she says she got in a muddle and will send the 2nd item back today so that she can have a refund for both. Well, we will wait and see, and if not I will not allow this to drop as I am very miffed about it.

  • Well you can offer a part refund via the return if the other doesn't come back.

    Is this a SNAD return or change of mind? If change of mind the buyer doesn't have protection under eBay's guarantee.

    I'd like to hear if the second item does make its way back.

    There is no option for a partial refund, only the full amount is refundable. This is a change of mind where buyer has paid return postage.

    If this happens to us we send a follow up message. Usually along the lines of "further to our telephone conversation today, thanks for explaining that the second item will be posted back to us shortly, as soon as it's here I will drop you another message confirming the refund......blah blah" Seems to ensure they do remember to post back and not just escalate.
