Online perennials

My local Aldi had perennials and summer flowering bulbs(in bags) last weekend. They were 99p a bag, and had different quantities dependant on the species - i.e. 3 lupins, 3 phlox, 1 of something else - there was a bag of 50 bulbs also, but can't remember the name - I just picked out a few that looked pretty. Assuming they come up, they seemed like pretty good value to me.0

You have just missed the B&Q plants sale. I got Loads for £15. Might be worth a pop down still, because they always have a clearance truck full.
Aldi had rooting powder ( hate the treacle stuff ) so make some babies !0 -

Not unless you happen to use the same store.
Each B&Q seems to have a different policy as regards clearance plants. My usual one is as tight as duck's bottom and I would never bother to look there.0 -
Last year we purchased the Miracle-Gro Flower Magic at £8 a pot. We had all three colours, filled borders and pots in our back and front garden and they were lovely. I have seen mixed reviews online, but both myself and my in-laws used them and the displays were fab during the summer, it was quite exciting to get up each day and see which new flowers had appeared.
They're more wildflower garden than structured planting, but I felt they were a fab way to add colour on a budget and if you're new to gardening(like me). New seedlings are already starting to come through for this year too.0 -
I'm a complete stick-it-in-the-ground-and-hope-for-the-best gardener, I prefer perennials mostly.
Over the years, I've tried batches of seeds, batches of bulbs, Flower Magic etc etc.
The only things that work for me (perennial-wise) is buying a decent sized plant to start with, something that won't be easy for a cat to dig up or birds/insects/snails to have a right old chomp on.
My 2 runaway success stories so far are my Morrisons lilac and periwinkle - each was around £1, I specifically wanted spreading ground cover and thats exactly what I've got, year after year, and the lilac flowers typically twice in a year.
I've also bought peony bushes and trees from Thompson and Morgan when they are on special offer, I have 3 of them now, they are very slow-growers (ie years before they mature) but they are getting there.
If you want bushes/small trees, 99p shops, Aldi and Lidl are good - again, I have 3 different ones which I've had in the ground for 3 years, and they bud and flower every year.
and finally, I have small bushes (all green) which have grown from 20p plugs I got in Wilkos 3 years ago - they were in the clearance section and I didn't hold out much hope for them at all, but they are now waist-height and a nice full shape.
I also put annuals in pots in spring/summer - usually from B&Q clearance section (ie I just got a tray of 24 decent sized plugs of pansies for £1 there on Saturday, nowt wrong with them, obviously been shifted there to make room for new stock).0 -
This weeks email from moneysaving is promoting £50 worth of plants from Thompson and Morgan for £10 plus £4.95 post and packaging.
The selection looks excellent but I always read reviews before buying anything and comments about their plants, seeds and customer service are really bad.
Does anyone have any positive experience and good comments on them?0 -
T+M had a bad spell with customer service - last year or so I've had 0 problems with Cserve - they're replaced plants when it was probably my own fault they failed to take off, and been able to advise on dispatch times etc...
Never had any problems with their plants, other than when I overwatered the plugs somewhat (oops)
Bear in mind, tesco vouchers can be exchange for 3x their value for vouchers there too.0
