car finance on death.

car finance on death.
A relative has just died and his wife doesn't drive and the car is on finance with santander
Obvioulsy the car can't be sold as is on finance and is parked on a public road with no way of moving it.
Any ideas on what to do? With the car and the loan.
This was on the loans board just transfered it here to see if any one knew what to do.
The loan is for 13000 and the car is worth 8000 as the apr was 18%

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

It might be worth checking to see if the car can be returned and the finance terminated. The finance company will usually sell the car to try and make back any losses. I hope this helps?

    Many condolences.

Does she have the finance agreement? It may well have clauses relating to what happens in the event of the purchaser dying prior to the contract ending or being paid up. If not the company will probably be open tomorrow morning and they will be able to advise what the procedure/s are.

Please also check the insurance as it may no longer be valid.
