Fridge not working - light still comes on though!

Hi all

Yesterday, my fridge stopped working.
It a zanussi fridge freezer.
The only thing i remember doing was that there is a 'mode' button that i pushed that then switched it off by itself.
I then tried to switch it back on but nothing is turning on.

The light in the fridge still comes on when i open the door.

I also noticed that although the freezer was getting quite cold, the fridge wasn't getting as cold as quickly.
The fridge was turned on for the first time yesterday after having bought it second hand a couple of months ago.

Would this 'mode' button have put in some kind of sleep mode? Anyone else had any experience of this?

Have tried replacing the fuse etc but since the light still comes on i know there is power to the unit. Just dont know why it now wont switch on having been on for a few hours before hand.

The fridge has never been stored on it's side.

I left it unplugged last night and tried again this morning with no luck :(

My first thought is it could have put it into defrost, which allows it to warm up in order to melt the ice, but would have thought turning off at the plug and back on would have cancelled that. Do you know the model (should be on a label in the fridge somewhere)? Search for the manual.
  • I have found the model number - ZNB 3450 S
I have also found the manual but no where does it state what i may have to do if the mode button is held down for too long.
I have found an old post on google stating the same problem but no answers. So close but no cigar!
  • As an aside, this happened before, but i turned it off and then on again and it worked fine. This time it is not working by doing this.
