a week without hot water

A woman I know at work is currently getting a log burning stove with a back boiler fitted so it will heat her water. Unfortunately it seems the guy she has doing it is not the greatest tradesman and she has been without hot water for almost a week now. I told her to tell the guy not to come back and get somebody else to fit it but she has already paid half the money up front. What rights does she have?

None really, did he give her any indication of how long it would take before he started work? What do you mean by 'he isn't the greatest tradesman'? He doesn't turn up or he is !!!! when he does?

Why on earth did she pay up front?
    :p
