I've just been made bankrupt: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=186737
In that thread I mentioned how difficult I am finding it to find a bank account and how many banks, including the A&L had turned me down.
Anyways, I was in my local town centre near the A&L branch that turned me down when I bumped into it's manager who said hello and asked if I would mind calling into the branch.
When I went over, he apologised unreservedly for his staff giving me duff information and gave me an application form for their "Basic Cash Account" which I think is the old Girobank-type account.
Not got the account yet, just applied, but trust me having been done over like a kipper in the last year it was really nice to find someone helpful and go the extra mile in the financial sector.
Thanks Mr Manager!
