Locked Out of Nissan Micra (2007)

My friend came home from a journey and left the keys in the ignition. He closed the driver door behind him and has locked himself out of the car. It is all electric/electronic locking etc. The spare key does not even make the indicator lights flash when the button is pressed, presumably because the other key is still in the ignition.
Has anybody any suggestions other than breaking a window; the car does not have any door lock buttons on the inside (all electronic) for those that do not know.

  • In the door will be a 'key hole'. Put the 'key' in that 'hole', and rotate the key.

Yep the new Micras have the keyhole hidden behind the drivers door handle. Pull the plastic off the part of the drivers door handle that remains in place when you pull the handle (IYSWIM).
