I have been given a CD with drawings/plans on by my Director who has asked if I could establish whether there is any way it can be opened/viewed without purchasing the appropriate software?
We operate on Windows XP.

Thanks,
Looked up Autodesk but the only freeware they offer is DWF. You have to purchase the software for a DWG file.
Would the freeware DWF viewer open the file? There is always light within the dark0 -

Thanks,
Completed form but does not give you access to a trial download. Have to wait for local office to contact me!!!!There is always light within the dark0 -
Volo View Express can be used to view DWG, DWF and DXF files. Its freeware and can be downloaded at https://www.softlookup.com/preview/dis23382.html0

If you know who has drawn them ie which company etc, then call and ask them to save each drawing as a pdf or if they dont have acrobat writer then they can save them to jpegs for you. In order to download the 'free trial' you have to get involved with suppliers which is a complete bore and slow.
Presumably yr director isnt autocad proficient and so just wants to see the drawings etc rather than change them, so jpegs will enable them to do that.0 -

Volo View is the AutoCAD Free viewer but they stopped making it for new versions so a drawing that was produced in AutoCAD 2005/2006 wont open unless its saved in an older version.
Vector CAD is a free CAD program but i cant seem to find it online0 -
We use Bentley View.
Its a free DWG/DXF viewer which will open (I believe) all current drawing formats.

I produce drawings in .dwg format and would agree that conversion to pdf is the easiest way the share the drawing - it is a simple print process in Autocad.
If you are still stuck I can convert the dwg files to pdf for you.0
