Hi,
A friend from work said they want to upgrade their RAM, they don't have much so i've advised getting 512 or 1024 if they can afford it. The only thing is they don't know what sort of RAM they have, is there a program u can download to scan your PC to find out what sort you need to get and can they keep their old RAM in if they have enough slots......also, where's the cheapest place at the moment to buy it from?
Cheers

Just make sure you make a note of the top amount of RAM that the mobo can take as crucial do have mistakes on their site saying PC blah blah blah can take 1024 of RAM when it may only take 512mb as crucial UK work off Crucial USA schematics of mobo's and have made mistakes from time to time so just make sure you know the most amount of RAM you can have or if you put too much in your gonna get beeped, so make sure you know the make and model of your mobo.0

Crucial have put their prices up a lot recently. If you go on the Crucial web site, find out what memory you want then look for it on ebay,it will be cheaper. But make sure you check the sellers "feedback"0

If you go down the list of companies to Crucial - you get 5% off. I know it works as I've recently upgraded etc via Crucial and very Happy

It's a good idea to also check the motherboard manual if you can find it: for example, the Crucial tool says I have three memory slots, but the manual says that only certain combinations of memory can be used with the third slot and it's only guaranteed to work with two DIMMs.0
