Hi...can anyone tell me which might be the best laptop out of these two...sorry, not sure how to add links properly. I'll only be using it for general net stuff and office work, photos and music and i dont need one for games etc...I was thinking about the PC world one as it seems to have a Vista upgrade when it comes out but heard bad stuff about PC World so not sure. Are there any recent discount codes for either?

I also have heard terrible things about PC-World lately.
The ACER AS3692WLMI is a more powerfull laptop, its faster, better graphics card, lighter in weight, BUT has less battery life.
From my intensive digging about for a bargain laptop/pc myself, there just aren't any great offers out thus far.
Personaly, wait until January sales.0 -

The PC World has a DVD writer (handy for backups etc) but slower processor(CPU) but better battery life, no doubt cos of that, firewire - then both laptops use shared memory for the graphics, so you will only have 900 or 800 MB RAM - both seem to be the same spec otherwise Celeron mobile processor - which is low end and inbbuilt wireless adapter.
Would look for a duel processor etc if you want Vista and a free upgrade...Rich people save then spend.

Its just sooo confusing isnt it? I'm not sure theres any such things as Jan sales these days though... I'm not to bothered about the battery life and its unlikely i'll be using it outside of the house really. Heard good and bad about Acers but sons got one and its brill. I'll hang about and wait to see if anyone else has any comments i think0

Shame cos there is this at £480 duo prpcessor 4 hours battery 14.1 screen http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=373923&tab=specification It may be cheaper elsewhere.
I know that is not helping :rotfl:
BTW You will most likely find codes and things on the Grabbit and other forumsRich people save then spend.

No not at all - but some people do like to be on the (B)leading edge.
But when Vista Home becomes available all the old laptops that can't run Vista to it's full glory - will probbaly sold off cheaper, so it may be worth waiting if you can .....Rich people save then spend.

Just as long as XP isnt going to be extinct in the near future ..lol. Both of those should be Vista compatible shouldnt they? Sorry for being a bit thick..:rotfl:0

Err I forget if MS have given an expirey date for support for XP but they only stopped doing updates for W98 this year - so yes will be around for a bit more.
It is only Vista compatible if it says so on the box - Vista has really "nice" graphics and these may not be able to run on some GPU's Graphic Processing Units ( not the Central PU ) CPU can be a PIII with 512 MB RAM but without the right GPU you won't get the full experience ... ( see thru windows etc )
But then have you looked at getting an ibook with OSX .....Rich people save then spend.
