Recommendations for a solicitor in the reading area?

Hi all.

I am selling my house and am on the hunt for a solicitor on a SALE only basis which is fairly straight forward. people say that they even deal with the paperwork themselves but to be honest i would feel safer with a solicitor.

i have rung around for a quote and the best i can find is 650+VAT.

Out of your experience can anyone recommend a solicitor in the reading area that could beat that quote?

All the best

Henry

Don't know what they quote at present but I always used to Nic Powe at Willmett & Co in Woodley, 0118 969 3751. I used him for my own sales/purchases as well as recommending him to clients when I worked as an EA in the area.

My buyer used Willmett & Co. in Woodley and (from what I could see!) they were brill. They fought tooth and nail for their client's interest, which is more than I could say about my (vastly!) cheaper solicitor. Wish I hadn't bee so darn cheap and went with them myself (before my buyer got to them, that is!). I'd even got a quote from them. Sale and purchase came, together, to a little under £1000 + vat. There is an instant quote tool on their website: http://www.willmett.co.uk/cms/section/conveyancing_enquiry.html

    We're currently using
http://www.claytonreeve.co.uk/
in Twyford, who have been fine so far (almost at exchange) and were the cheapest we found. They have awful offices so it makes you fee like you're not paying for their image. We were quoted twice as much from a local Pangbourne solicitor.

Still in EA , residing in South Wales, 10 mins to the beach, 5 mins to the open countryside. No pressure as the boss doesn't believe in targets. Great.
