Something has "crashed" Internet Explorer - AVG 8 ?

About a month ago, the family missed a "must watch" BBC TV program.
I came to the rescue by installing iPlayer, so we could all watch it on our 19" monitor, after I had downloaded it.:T
So far so good, however a few days later, I noticed that my "Netgear" router was getting excited and Cntrl + Alt + Del showed something called "kservice" had sprung into action.
It seems that the BBC had put something on my machine that is fired up by the start process. It sits there in the background waiting for something to trigger it to perform.
Poking about on Google suggested that Start -> Run : net stop kservice should turn it off.
The system confirms that kservice has indeed stopped.
So far so good.
Last night I upgraded to AVG 8.

This morning I got a pop up error message:
Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 14
Char: 2
Error: 'general Values' is undefined
Code: 0
URL: file: ///C:Program%20files/Kontiki/Iplayer_live/cache/dialog_notify.html
Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page YES NO.

So far I've tried NO

This leaves windows and presents me with a small black window, edged in blue and titles BBC iPlayer in white, offering OK Cancel

Cancel
goes round in a loop back to OK Cancel
So does Yes then OK
In fact the only way to get rid of the black window is to turn off an then on ("reboot").

I normally use Firefox; so the iPlayer software must be taking over Internet Explorer on its own account.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

There is no need to download anything in order to just view programmes on the i-player.
You have chosen to download programmes so have had to install kontiki p2p software (nasty), which is also used by 4OD and Skyplayer, there may be some uninstallers out there but I've not found one as yet.

Success maybe, go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontiki and down at the bottom of the page is a direct link to the kontiki removal tool.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I found out that I would have to practically reinstall windows to get the licensing for Kontiki to work. So I immediately wanted to uninstall Kontiki - a real pain to to. AVOID installing it if you can.
