Accommodation in Sardinia

I'm looking for accommodation in Sardinia for mid February 2006, and cannot get any available rooms at all. I've tried with Medhotels, Alpharooms, Hotelopia, Findrooms.com, bookandstay.com, as well as others.

I'm after something for 2 adults and 2 children, but cannot even get double rooms.

Is accommodation scarce or am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks

  • I went to Sardinia as part of a trip around Italy on my Honeymoon, and I have to say I wasn't too impressed, the star ratings don't seem to be terribly accurate.

We stayed at the Flamingo hotel, details on trip advisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g194870-d237905-r3612771-Flamingo-Pula_Sardinia.html

I had a gastly stay there, and I hear the Forte village which is the only other major hotel/resort in that part of Sardinia has mixed reports.

Have you looked on tripadvisor and located a hotel you like the sound of and then tried contacting them directly?

Thanks - both posts have given me some options, although its looking to be a bit more expensive than I had hoped!

  • We found Sardinia was much more expensive than the rest of Italy. Maybe have a search on mainland Italy, lots of choice!!

    Try Sardinia.net.

We booked through them and stayed in Isola Rossa in June this year. It was great. Hardly anyone in our apartments and very few brits about, we like it that way. Booked a car before we went and drove from Olbia to the resort, I was initially nervous as I had seen the route on the map (I don't do heights so driving over mountains petrifies me) but the roads were excellent and the views magnificent.

The food can be as expensive as you want it to be, but there are always pizzas and the local delis have good food if you want to cater for yourselves. We bought a mountain of mussels to cook for 3 euros.

The beaches are superb. Some of the best I have seen.

you can't take it with you...
  • Hello, from the south-west-coast: where d'you like to stay? We have some apartments or villas with heating or chimney near the beach. All dwellings are situated on private lots of land :D - some with ocean-view:
Prices 2005: from 210€ - 550€ weekly for the house. And you can fly from London LT to Cagliari with the low-cost-airline!

We stayed in Alghero(I'm guessing that you will arrive there or Cagliari) Found a small apartment in the old town for something like £30. Hot water didn't work after 3pm though. :-)
We loved it there(Sardinia). Beautiful. This was a few years ago, so they may have ruined it since...
We rented a car(Hertz) and took ourselves on a tour.

Our favourite restaurant there was Il Pesce D'oro. No matter how we tried, we didn't spend more than £15 for 2 people. Plus, they always rounded the bills downwards.
Once, while having a meals with another couple we had met on the island, we were so deep in conversation that we didn't notice that the restaurant had closed a full two hours beforehand. It was then 1 or 2am.
Embarrassedly, we picked up our dishes(we were eating alfresco) to take them inside. We found the family and staff sitting around a big table, eating.
They made us feel very comfortable and in addition to this, rounded the bill downwards again, to less than £30 for four people including complimentary Limoncello.

Actually I have a fair amount of info from the tourist board there. I'll see if I can dig it out later.
Let us know how you get on.

BTW. The NE is the traditionally expensive part of Sardinia. So, if you are looking there...
